With over 35 years of experience practicing law, and decades serving as in-house general counsel for publicly traded, multinational companies Richard has a vast knowledge of the challenges companies face. He has helped both small businesses and large corporations overcome legal and regulatory obstacles to meet their plans and goals. He has served both in the capacity of the company’s corporate general counsel and on a per-project basis giving assistance to in-house staff.

Richard didn’t start out with an eye on practicing law. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, and spent the first five years of his professional career as a drilling and production engineer, drilling offshore wells for oil and gas companies. Now he brings that engineer’s mindset to his legal work, helping businesses in the oil and gas industries, international shipping business, and other sectors with maritime matters and business transactions alike.

Global Perspectives for Clients in Denver, Colorado and Worldwide

In 2018, Richard relocated his law practice to Denver, Colorado from the Houston, Texas area. While many of his clients remain the same, Richard now represents companies in both the Denver and Houston areas and around the world, addressing issues ranging from maritime matters to corporate transactions. He also provides legal concierge services to executives and key employees faced with a need for individual legal advice and representation.

Outside the Office

Moving to Denver has allowed Richard to indulge in passions unrelated to law as well. An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoys hiking and outdoor photography, capturing wildlife images and landscapes from all around Colorado. If you’re in Colorado you might run across him at an alpine lake or on the summit of a peak. He volunteers with the Grand County Wilderness Group, assisting the U.S. Forest Service with maintaining trails and trailheads. He also works with an arm of the Denver Public Schools, volunteering to help refugees  learn English as a second language.
